Field Trips
Take your class on a journey back to 1717 — an era of global commerce, tall ships, and the pirates who preyed upon them. The Whydah Pirate Museum offers an exciting, hands-on experience for students of all ages.
See Pirate Artifacts
Students will explore authentic navigational instruments, rigging and ship’s tackle, carpenter’s tools, early firearms, and real gold doubloons and silver pieces of eight — all genuine artifacts handled by real people from the past, not reproductions.
Learn About Archaeology
Beyond the exhibits, our onsite Sea Lab shows students how artifacts are recovered and preserved — including how underwater “concretions” form and the techniques archaeologists use to uncover what’s inside. What better way to learn archaeology than by searching for 300-year-old pirate treasure?
